Shouldn't we own, or at least have tried, all the FZs to decide which one is best? All I can say for now is that the FZ10 is a good camera.

All FZ's are excellent cameras. I have to agree whatever anyone has will say that it is the best. From what I have seen from the FZ20 has been impressive thus far. I have seen more examples of the FZ10 and many are excellent. The FZ1 is no slouch and the fact it can do infrared puts it in a class by itself.

FZ-1v2
1. Can do infrared
2. Can get it for $180
3. Compact size - can take it anywhere, not cumbersome
4. 55mm thread, less expensive more available filters, add-on lenses
5. Best megapixels-to-sensor size ratio
6. Has same CCD and optics as the rest of the line (except the FZ-20) for 1/3 the cost of the FZ-20 with comparable image quality.
7. Has ISO 50 mode
8. Fewer "stupid" presets that no one uses cluttering up the control dial.

But does not have the manual control, and manual focus. These are the things i miss.

Nick is just sorry that he spent all his money betting on midget wrestlers, and could not afford the FZ20...

i ended up buying FZ1 after my FZ10 as the price was great and wanted a camera to be able to carry around easily with 12x optical zoom and infrred capability were the +++. Had i bought FZ1 i am not sure that i had gone for FZ10 but might haave gone for FZ20 or FZ30.

My original plan was to save up and buy DSLR like digital canon rebel or EOS20 and slowly built the lens line.

It does not have a full manual mode, nor a manual focus ring... but again, it is 1/3 the price - it's also 1/2 the size (like it should be...). Those frills cost money. It's 2/3's the camera at 1/3 the price. The others can't do IR so if this one gives up the ghost, I would look for a used FZ-1 before I buy any of the others.

And bobc - if you must know, my midget lost the match. And so I am a little light.
