have just purchased a panasonic lumix DMC-LC50. I have loaded disc and carefully followed instructions in the manual but cannot seem to download the photo's to my PC. I keep getting the message "There is no supported memory card". This is my first digital camera and am a complete novice. Would appreciate some help on what may be wrong and how I can get over this problem.

What are you using to download your pictures? The camera or a card reader?

I am assuming that you did not use the provided CD's that came with your camera. The CD contains the drivers necessary for your computer to recognize your camera. I am not sure of what else to tell you other than to use a card reader. I use a card reader which is recognized automatically with windows XP. I am not sure if what OS you are using either but uploading the CD should take care of that.

Thanx for your prompt reply. I have lodad the one disc supplied with

camera , which contains the following software:-

USB Driver 1.0

SD Viewer 2.0E for DSC

Ulead Photo Explorer

QuickTime.

PC will not load USB Driver as it states it does not require it. If I do not have any success I may have to purchase a card reader. I am using Windows ME.

Yes, and set the mode dial to playback as stated in manual.

How does the playback work on your camera itself? Are you using the card that came with the camera? Not sure if any of this helps but maybe try a different card if you have one available. Also, you already may have done so but make sure your USB connections are in before turning on the computer and camera.

I am using the card that came with the camera. I don't think there is anything wrong with the card as i can play back the photo's on the camera display. I have had messages come up telling me there are no drivers installed for this camera but at the same time I am unable to find any camera drivers on the internet. It will not let me install USB driver as it says it is not required.

I have just ordered a card reader and hope this may work where the camera does'nt.

What operating system do you have?
If you have Windows 95, 98 or Me i would recommend you to get Windows XP,
older operating systems tend to have problems with USB devices.

If possible try to test the if the camera works normally with some other PC,
there is allways possibility that the camera is broken.

I dont know if the camera has option to choose the USB mode between USB PictBridge/Direct-Print
and Mass Storage but that setting may affect the functionality of USB transfers.
