The following 2 pics are 100% crops. One is in standard setting and the other in high setting.

I don't see very much difference in the quality of the images even when I zoom in to 1600%.

But... Where the big difference is... I can get 396 imgages on a 512 MB card instead of 202.

Let me know what you think.

Image 1 Standardquality mode.

Can't tell the difference myself. Question is, what example could there be that would be able to see a difference between the two different compressions. I do like the fact if you are shooting burst mode alot that standard compression would be the way to go in order to get more pictures.

Load these images on your computer, open them up in your image editor, and zoom in on the same detail as far as you can. You will see little difference.

I'm just counting back the years 'till my little girl comes home with a hole in her tongue - or tatoo. Right now I'll enjoy the fleeting years while she sits with daddy with milk and cookies to read a book.

The difference is almost unnoticeable, just slightly noiser on the left bottom corner......I think you should post more comparison shots under different conditions to draw a conclusion about the real difference between the standard and fine modes.
