Hi,

I have bought this DV camera of panasonic!
the model is NV-GS15.

now i got a cd with the camera.

first i tried to connect the camera to the pc through USB !
i installed the usb drivers from the cd.

and all software. but when i tried running the software it didnt detect the camera.

now im trying with FIREWIRE ! the hardware is fine since i turned on the camera and the pc detected it and installed all needs for hardware !

now i tried few programs the last one was adobe premiere and it says the video device is tuned offline.

and if i try with the cd software i got with the camera DV STUDIO3

i load the software then its thinking few seconds says CONNECTING.

then i get a msg unable to connect check the camera is on and the cable is connected fine.

and its all on and connected ! since the hardware detection worked fine !

i dont know what to do !
when i check in control panel under scanners and cameras i see my usb camera of logitech for the internet use but i dont see the panasonic !

its like the panasonic dv camera isnt installed at all by software or something !
and i installed all the software i have on that cd with the camera !
something is missing !
cuz by hardware its working good !
but somehow i cant see the camera in the device area !
even when i go ot the my computer propeties and go there to hardware>device manager i cant find the panasonic there !

any ideas what to do ?
in the cd came with the camera the only drivers there are for the usb or for the webcamera wich i dont need !
all other stuff is software !

Hi -

Welcome to the forum, Daniel. These are always tough to figure out unless one is sitting there with the equipment.
Could be something stupid/simple, a missed step, or an issue with the OS, software, driver, or an irc conflict.

1) First... if you haven't already, contact Pana CS. Escalate until you get a rep or a sup that knows what they're talking about.

2) Go onto Pana's website and see if there is an updated driver, install it. Note - I didn't see anything on the web about this issue (yet). But I would Google around. This is the only thread I could find but it's not for your model DVC. http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/arc.../t-105950.html

3) Assuming you're using Windows XP, go to Start->Help-> troubleshoot-> type in your problem and follow the steps. Belive it or not MS did a fairly decent job with this.

Wish I could be of more help but this sort of thing is hard to diagnose without seeing your set-up and software.

Nick

Greetings chocolade and welcome to the board.

I have two questions for you.

1. Are you trying to get the video off the camera or pictures?

2. When you plug the camera into the computer is the camera on? ( I know this is a stupid question but you would not believe how many people forget to do this.)

Hi,

I just got the GS120 version and I have just downloaded the drivers, and all works fine.

Not sure if its different, but this is what I did:

1) There are 2 drivers. A USB driver, and a webcam driver. Need to install both.

2) Must use USB2. at first tried on USB1 and it did not detect.

3) Camera must be ON at Movie mode or PC mode.

4) USB cable for still pics only. Firewire for movie transfer.

Hope these helps.....

Looks like tchuanye got to your questions first. He said just about everything I was going to say. Hope you find the problem. Let us know how things work out.
