Hi

Is there another camera with the similar features as the FZ20 and for a similar or lower price?

It'd be nice to have:
1. 10 to 12X Zoom
2. Image stabilisation
3. 4 or 5 MegaPixels

I suppose another way to look at it is which ultra zoom cameras out there have image stabilisation?

Thanks for any help : )

Have you looked at the FZ15? It is 4 megapixels and can be had for around $100 less than the FZ20. The main difference besides the pixel count is no hotshoe for external flash and the FZ15 doesn't record sound withmotion video. Optics and camera body are the same. Hope this helps! :-)

Sure there is - the Minolta Z3. But it and the FZ15 are about it.

If you don't mind a bit less mp's, there is also the FZ3 and the Canon S1 IS.

If you don't mind spending more money, I think Nikon has a high-zoom with IS, but I don't recall the model #.

The NIkon Coolpix 8800. 8mg, 10zoom, starting at 28 mm instead of 36 i think, with a better OIS but I heard some other prob of slow write. You may want to check it out.

Nikon 8800 is not really in the same category though.
8MP vs 5MP, but retail price on the 8800 is $1000. The FZ20 is only $600. With that much leftover, buy a camera for your second hand.

One, of several things, that caught my eye with the "20" is it`s ability to maintain a f2.8 aperature through the entire zoom range! This will allow you to keep a low ASA speed rating, which will greatly help reduce "noise" in the pic.
