Shot this in program mode. I think shutter speed was 1/25 second. How could I have got a clearer more distinct shot?

you need a faster shutter speed to stop the motion. Or use the flash.

Try shutter priorty mode and ust the fastes shutter speed you can that will keep the exposure correct.

You can use a slower shutter speed if the subject is not moving, but to freez the subject, you need a faster shutter speed.

You can also bump the ISO up if the lighting is not enough.

nice call bob...the faster the better.but that does constitute light like bob said bump up the ISO get the exposure right (a little under is ok) if noise is a prob and its a shot you want to keep or print clean it up (noise)witha noise removal app........

good luck...Willow
