Here is a sequence of a juvenile Bald Eagle landing on a branch.
The tricky part is prefocusing on the bird. Fortunately this particular eagle took off and then circled back several times allowing me the luxury of testing the focus before actually shooting. Definitely a bonus.

Hey Bob, I feel kind of bad. The only reason that those pictures came out the way they did is because of fact that I was incredibly lucky. There were four eagles there that day. And they were with in 100 feet of the road. When you take over 200 shots of hawks in one session you are bound to get a few keepers. I was very lucky. I haven;t bothered to shown the 185 that are blurred or only show half the bird in the frame.
Thanks for the compliments I wish it was talent. But, I have a long way to go yet.

Happy Holidays mate,

Hey, I know exactly what you mean. I don't know how many of them stupid seaguls I panned to get a few good ones.

It's the mostly luck in this type of shooting.

In photo number four the eagle appears to have its nictitating membrane close over the cornea of its eye. Otherwise I would expect the eye to be clear. If I am correct, your camera is really fast to catch that.
