A lazy, cool Christmas morning, the Pacers & Pistons are tied, but I'm bored so I head out the Old Columbia Highway. At Women's Forum State Viewpoint I take this picture.

A few minutes up the road I reach Latourell Falls. A 15 minute hike takes me to the top. I can hear the stream tumbling over the cliff, but the view is horrible. I slip under the safety cable & make my way 30 feet down the slope to a tree. 50 feet down a bare clay slope I can see the stream going over the edge. About 15 feet down the slope an amazing thing happened. Over the sound of the stream I can hear people 300 feet below frantically taking photos. I decide I would rather take photos than be in them. I turn around & walk back down to the car. I did take this photo from below. As you can see, I need some tips.

In less than 10 minutes you arrive at Wahkeena Falls. It is a Yakima Indian word meaning most beautiful. It is a beautiful setting, which I didn't do justice to. So lets hear those tips. The trail has a closed sign on it & shows little use. People are ignoring the sign, but I reluctantly refrain from walking up to the bridge.
