I was sifting through some pictures of Bald Eagles and saw these babies. It's know wonder they can grap a fish right out of the water. Yikes those things are sharp.

I have been fishing on a lake and witnessed one swoop down and grab a nice sized bass out of the water. Also for some reason the usually go to a dead tree to eat it. I guess to have a good view on who might try to steal their dinner.

smac,

Your pictures are great! I can't wait to get to California. I will be there the first week of April. Will have to make sure that I have all the bells and whistles to get the most out of the trip too.

smac,

It would be Elk Grove. Not too far from Chico in respect to where I am living now. My friend lived there (Chico)when she was going to college.

Nice!
Well if you get the time the refuge were I have been taking my photos is open 7days a week from sunrise to sunset. A $3.00 day pass buys you a ton of pictures this time of year. Even in April there will still be a ton of hawks, some lingering ducks and plenty of Egrets, Heron, Owls and other various critters.

Here is the URL for the refuge. You can get a map and good info on the refuge.

http://sacramentovalleyrefuges.fws.gov/

I just checked their website and there are currently over 450,000 birds on the refuge. Even with your eyes shut you could get pictures of waterfowl.

I hope you can make it.

Thanks a bunch. You have definitely read my mind and taken care of all the leg work in my trip to the refuge. I will keep you posted for sure about the upcoming trip there and maybe we can get one of those hot dogs at Weiner Works in Sacramento.
