Thanks, Nancy. These are GREAT links! Never would have found them on my own. I will be teaching (I think) a digital imaging class in march (yipee!) so these "more technical" articles will be very useful. Good stuff, and thanks for posting!

That's really interesting Nancy, thanks! I've always wondered about the equivalencies (or lack-thereof) between film and digital.

Best part, I think, was seeing it would take about 200mp to match a 4x5 camera (I don't even want to think about file size!), while 35mm will need about 10mp.

Great link very technical tho'

and yes 10mp = 35mm asa50 film.
As Nicktrop puts it the FZ1 is his leica M5 with super zoom.
Only 2Mp but still produces wonderfull images.
Like the older M series leica's ...

With 2mp you need to get right into the subject so some subjects can be captured in sharp detail.
Distant landscapes don't fair so well unless you create a panoram from several images.
