These landscapes are beautiful! Forgive my geographical ignorance, but where were these taken? Sometimes I wish the aspect ratio on digitals was a little less square, and a little more rectangular for landscapes. Wonderful pictures, beautiful job!

Those are terrific indeed!

Wow, being a geology/physical science major I love the desert landscape pictures.
I feel like I just went on a great tour.
Really nice. Thanks Tom,

smac

These were taken in Arizona. It is a four hour drive northeast of Phoenix.

Thanks everyone for wonderful comments.

NickTrop,

I believe the FZ10, 15 and 20 have and HDTV size setting for picture taking. I never thought of using it. I may have to give it a try when I take landscape shots next time.

Mahalo,

Tom

Nice shots! Really like the subject matter with cactus flower and petrified rock. Always like those type of pics-like the small pine growing out of the rockcliff-if you know what i mean. We were there in June and also to Grand Canyon-but only had my old minolta slr to take pics. Lots of rolls of film and lots of $$$.

Happy :|,

I haven't seen a photo on this forum that was bad in your eyes, but I think they could be much better.

#1. - Object out of the composition.. should have left more room on the top there. and the photo is too bright. You might want to try another background such as a horizon (camera lower).

#2. - Can't really see a subject here.. except for some cracks in the rock. also too bright.

#3. - It's too bright.. some white blowouts on the flower. It is sharp, but it doesn't look sharp because of the blowouts. The background is far too messy.. Should have been blurred more (more zoom/lower F)

#4. - Composition is good, but lack of color/contrast.

#5. - That is a nice picture.. maybe a bit too bright, and I'd like to see the person more on the left, so you could see more into the deep.

#6. - Nice picture. good contrast/color. Good composition, nice easy background.

#7. - You should try a polarisation filter voor nice dark blue skies. This also lacks contrast, but I presume it's because of the distance.. maybe some photoshop would fix it.

#8. - is good. It would have been a nice picture too if the horizon was just out of the top of the screen.. so you could only see ground.

#9. -This needs photoshop, more contrast.

#10. - 10 is great.. no work left there

As a serie of photo's.. it's ok. They are snapshots. But each photo could have been better on itself. I think a lot of the photo's posted on this forum are way overrated.
All you guys keep cheering " YEAH nice pictures". But some healthy criticism and good tips could improve the photo's of yourself and the rest of the forum.

Don't see this as a flame.. because it isn't. Just some advice in my opinion
