Just to let everyone know that Lecia has already announced a DLSR based on the Kodak CCD that 4/3 system uses - I think its the LEICA DIGITAL-MODUL-R.

Heres a few links:

Interesting. Falling out, perhaps? Pana and Leica, once very much in love but now need'n their space? Probably, Leica wants to distance themselves from a master, mass-producer like Matsushita Electric Corporation. If Leica can't earn 80% margin on an item, I don't think it fits in with their business model.

I wonder how much Panasonic learned from their involvement and if they take a few secrets with them?

no way of knowing exactly what the future will bring, i'm just glad i got my FZ20 when i did!! it's a heck of a camera, and it's not likely to be rendered obsolete by anything else anytime soon. i'm like Nick, i enjoy taking pictures, not spending money every year on the newest gizmo. i'd rather buy one good camera, with the features i want and need, and maximize its potential, than worry about keeping up with the latest whiz-bangs that half the time don't make any noticeable difference in the results anyway!

The target date is Feb 06, it will be sold by both brands

By the way the new FZ3 (FZ5) will not have a swivel screen
