...very interesting. Couple thoughts, though:

1. Where's this leave Leica?

2. Will the cameras be Olympus or Panasonic cameras?

3. Big assumption on my part but I think you better take care of your Lumix's because once Pana starts getting into interchangable lenses (and seeing the revenue), will they be willing to make fixed lens big zoom models?

Very interesting:!: This could lead to quite a camera. Looking at the projected sales for dslr it looks like a very fast growing segment of digital camera sales. The competition is heating up so I'm sure we're in for some nice surprises:arrow::arrow::idea::-):arrow:

I'd guess both, slightly different models.

Why not? Nikon and Canon still make big zoomers too.

Best,

Martijn

The press release indicates that they will develop invididual cameras but share technologies including lenses, etc. I don't see Leica mentioned and I'm sure they would have to negotiate a separate deal with them. I wonder if they're interested?

Yes new this I mean't post the info. was too slow
four thirds is a std whereby anyone can makes lenses to suit so widen's users choice.
it means a common std for SLR's
Also the bodies could be made by anyone with there own subtle changes but still all will be interchangable.
Panasonic wan't to have a DSLR to be in with all the top makers and have more market creedeance.
Thats what PANA announced.
LEICA surley will design lenses but made by PANA'S lens factory reputed to be the most advanced, can measure to and check to 0.1um on aspherics lens profiles.

There is a new FZXX to replace the FZ3 coming soon Feb I Heard ...my guess it will be FZ1 body size with rotatable LCD 4MPixals...
