Taken at full zoom, indoors through a thick double glazed window (at quite an acute angle), facing into the sun, a mile across the town (other side of the valley infact)....oh and hand-held!

Despite all that i'm amazed at the level of detail and even colour it was able to pick out (although the noise is definitely visible). Cropped and resized with irfanview, exif data should be intact.

Any comments/suggestions very welcome, esp. concerning shooting 'into' light (always a bit of a no no i've been led to believe).

Good result , handheld 12x, couldn't read the exif
but auto contrast in PS shows that you were very steady,
looses the nice mood of your original though
Keep it up.

that lens is a marvel, ain't it?? :G

shooting into the light is only a real problem if you're aiming close enough into the sun for lens flare. the rest of the time, the worst it will do is throw your metering off and make the camera underexpose the subject... but this looks like you managed to avoide the worst of that...

Amazing what the lens can do. Of course that isn't the type of picture that you would hang on the wall, but still, under those harsh conditions, that is quite good.

You should show how far away it looks at full wide angle

Okay - here's the wide-angle shot taken at the same time. I've resized to 800x600 and reduced the contrast by 40% so that some detail shows through - gives a good impression of how bad the light was though.

Oh, and these were taken 'naked' - I've ordered the Phayee adapter and a Hoya filter but it's going to be a couple of weeks before they arrive....

The school is half-way up the frame and about a 1/4 of the way in from left hand edge.
