Just in case any of you have not heard, Picasa 2 has been released. For those of you who have not heard of this program, It is a free picture program offered by google. It will find all the pictures on your PC, catalog them without moving them. It has some nice effects as well as some nice fix em up tools. A histogram, exif reader, and zoom are all included in this. very powerful yet very simple to use program. Yes, I do know that there are other programs out there, but to me, this seemed like a nice one for the beginners and as well as for the more experienced.

Fox,

Anything to get people learning with tools available to be more creative and/or get information about their pictures is always helpful. For some this isall they would ever need to enhance their experience and then maybe down the road grow into something else.

Free is always good too if it helps fill the bill.

I've tried it.

Seems OK for inventorying your images but everytime I go to try the edit functions there is a "Fatal Error".

If you are getting a fatal error, then something is wrong (obviously). I would suggest that you contact the support folks at picasa. I don't know how good it is but they may be able to help you with your specific setup (op system, hardware, etc).. All the features of the program work fine on my computer (Winblows ME, Dell P4 1.4Ghz, 128Mb ram)..

Good luck,
Jeff
:-)

I would uninstall get a fresh download and reinstall. I heard a rumor this company was bought by Google. It has a real nice feature to rename all photos in a folder or by selection. The soft focus works real well and super easy.

Google does seem to be the one that owns Picasa.

NewsyL, I have never had that problem or any problem with that program. I would try what rebelpcb said, and if that does not work, drop tech support a email and see if they can help.

Another benefit of Picasa 2 that no one's pointed out yet, is that it's edible.
