I would like the handle to be a non slip handlebar type grip and be usable with other cameras.

I really can't comment on various makes... mine is a Quantaray bought at the local Ritz camera store for around $15. I can't see where different models would not be compatible with other cameras, as they mount through the tripod socket. They all look pretty much the same.

Why do you want an L braket though? Doesn't the FZ-20 have a hotshoe? Won't you lost the advantage of the hotshoe? I got an L-bracket to use with a digital slave flash for the FZ-1, so I didn't have a choice.

I have my Nikon SB-28 and I find the camera top heavy with the flash on the hot shoe. On my film Nikon, since the camera was heavy, it never felt top heavy. Anyway the hot shoe/receiver on the Panasonic is no where as rugged as the hot shoe on the Nikon and it looks to me wear or breakage could be a problem.

I am looking for one with that non slip grip that fits your hand. You would think if they make pizza cutters with that type of handle, you could find a flash bracket.

I was looking at Olympus Emporium and saw this, which looks like it has a flex grip material... but the price, yeesh ($80...). I have a plastic grip, and it's fine. Have you ever held one of these? Or is it a deal breaker for you?
