I took this shot this morning. Setting were f2.8 @ 1/60sec. ISO 400. It looks blurred, is that from shake caused by not useing a stand?

I'm not sure, but looking at the EXIF you were at full zoom and spot focus. Looking at it closer it looks like the camera was focused more on the tail than anything else. Maybe that combined with 12x zoom and 400ISO gave it a soft look. It seems your noise reduction was on high too. 1/60 with the OIS on shouldn't blur. Just guessing.

Yes it's better. Is this a 100% crop ? or resize. It seems a bit out of focus, or movement blur but I think that's not the problem with 1/80.

Yes, I croped it down alot. I havent learned how to get sharp close-ups yet, but I'm working on it.

Onthespot, the second shot is really good, nooner took the words outa my mouth....it would make a very nice printed picture, and I too at times have trouble getting precise focusing, guess we just keep trying.

still a bit soft indeed, but oh well; next time it's gonna be a winner :|
