I have a lot of sunsets that are more spectacular, but I liked the way the sun, itself looks. There isn't much to the background though, and resizing it seemed to lose a little, but tell me if you guys thinks this works as a good pic:

Yes rule of thirds places the sun in optimum spot so well done.
I do see a tilt in the horizon,;-) and yes the sun is partly veiled ... nice capture.
Sunsets fascinate, timing, season can all effect the final result ... oh and yes a place away from city skylines helps a lot.
HAwaii well its the place.

Nice shot. Like the clouds across the lower portion. Maybe needs a sailboat going by?

It's almost pink

Cool shot.
But the angle of the horizon makes my head tilt to see the picture if you know what I mean.

I know it is a bit tilted, I was just too lazy to correct it, it is very minor, though.

Nancy,

Being from Hawai'i I will have to say that the camera did not do the job of capturing what you saw in person very well. I like the cloud veil over the sun but the water is rather flat. That is not your fault. It is just that the colors of the water is much more vibrant and varied than what I see from this picture. Could be the time of day that it came out looking like this.

Mahalo,

Tom

Here's another sunset (well almost) with the model that Calvin Hall was shooting on the right, I will post this separately as everyone doesn't always read these older posts. But Tom is right, it is impossible to capture the true beauty of Hawai'i with photos, you just have to see it for yourself.
