Treemonkey...i loved all your shots. Hey in your setup you didn't mention a tripod...did you use one? If you didn't could you please tell me how you got these crystal clear shots at 12X zoom...lol. Also how far were you from these critters?

thanks

Thanks for all the comments guys. I really do wish I had the external flash with me though, I think the lighting looks a bit unnatural. Of course that bug looks a little unnatural as well so I suppose it works!
Nick I have no idea what sort of critter it is, an Australian Insect book is my next purchase.

indiawala,
I never use a tripod for these macro shots, never. They seriously limit your ability to move and with little critters like these you need to move quick. The one thing I would recommend would be a rubber eye cup for you FZ, I got a canon one and it works great! The added stability of having the camera against your eye really helps. I use to use the LCD screen and would have a 5% success rate with focus at full zoom but when using the EVF I have raised that to ~40% good focus (that doesn't mean good photo though!). The flash also really helps as it gives the effect of using a very fast shutter speed under dim light.

Hey JCR,

i use the Phayee adaptor, it looks good and works well. I also stack the 6T on the UV filter, you don't have to but im to lazy to remove it. I have been meaning to do a few tests on the effect of the UV filter but haven't got around to it. My photos seem to come out ok so I figure if it isn't broken don't fix it. Hope this helps.

But, of course!

Quick-n-Easy Stink Bug Stew

INGREDIENTS:
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup finely chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
2 dozen stink bugs with their liquor
4 bottles (4 cups) clam juice
1 cup dry sherry
2 cups half-and-half
freshly ground black pepper

PREPARATION:
In a large heavy saucepan, heat the butter over medium-low heat. Add the celery and onion; sauté until softened but not browned, about 3 to 5 minutes.

Add the Worcestershire, Tabasco, celery salt, stink bugs with their liquor, clam juice, sherry, and half and half.
