Yusef Lateef. How's he compare with 'trane? Need'n some new tenor sax material. Been playing nothing but Coltrane for 15 years. Time to broaden my horizons. Heard about Yusef but not familiar with his music. What's a good intro CD?

hey nick yusef has lots of albums
live at peps
detriot
the man with the big front yard
psychicemotus
eastern sounds
the diverse yusef lateef...if you like trane you will love yusef...i got a bunch of trane and yusef...i would reccomend any of these for hard bop and avant garde ..i'm from the old school ..i live in the past because music is like a print it has to grab me and most of what they play now just doesn't do it ...if you have any more questions about other artist feel free to ask ....

... Agree 110%. Love 'em all but my favorite 'trane is India. There he is possessed by the Gods who speak through his sax, man is not worthy of such music. I will PM you, or I'll go on your word and try either psychicemotus or eastern sounds. Thanks for the recommendations. Glad I checked out your avatar. Hope'n to find another artist up there with Coltrane.

Ever hear of Sony Stitt or Earl Bostic?

I use to play to my Dads old jazz records when I was young.

I played alto and tonor. Have'nt played for many years (probably lost my lip...:-))

I've always loved the sax... Great instrument...

While I do have a Miles Davis disc that I love and a Coltrane (in DVD audio-I think I am the only suckah into it) disc, I just wanted to say, "Now that's a barbeque!" Need some more "Lechon" for my tastes, but I will take the ribs, pleazzzzze!
