Tim, how close were you with the objects and did you use tele lens? These pics are so detailed.

I didn't use a teleconverter.. and the distance are from 6 to 30 ft.depends on the subject.. most of my close up picture are shot through glass. The picture looks ugly out of the cam.. but when I take it I make sure i got a good histogram.. so it Always turns out good.

As always a great shot Tim. Iam always amazed how much detail there is in the feathers! Thanks for the info about the glass - I was out for walks taking the odd bird shot and found it frustrating that I could not get very close at all. I think now I'll get some feeders for the back garden and see what happens :-)

Yeah I finally got a good swan picture.. Lighting is so hard with sun on the white feathers and dark background.. The histograms are always blown out. But this one turned out good

I'm really proud of the picture.. besides the lighting.. it has a pretty good composition too.. (hope i'm not being arrogant :G)

No offense, but it looks oversharpened.

Tim,

The not-so-ugly black bird is a Jackdaw to us anglophones.
Although Kauw is definitely phonetically accurate!
