I was testing out the new flash I got from eBay - a low voltage, Made in China Vivitar 283 (I measured about 7 volts).

Well anyway my two puppies were playing keepaway with my daughters hacky-sack and I caught the action.

External flash, f2.8 1/60 ASA 100

Nice photo of your 'puppy'!. Looks young and lively. Flash seems to work well too!

Here's my first attempt at posting a photo. I took this shot of my dog about three hours after I brought my new FZ20 home from the store (3 weeks ago). It's just a quick 'snap-shot', with no flash and no pp, but it worked out fairly well, given that it was my first day with the camera.

The thing I realized with this my shot is how the flash acts as a shutter. At 1/60 without the flash Shadow (my puppy) would have been blurred in this mid-jump shot. The flash really froze the action (he only has one paw in contact with the floor); I was aware of this flash funtion, but this was my first personal demonstration of the effect.

It sure did!

The flash allows for a much faster shutter speed.Any idea what the shutter speed was with the flash? With no blur, it must have been at least 1/200 or more.
