No if I was in marketing I would start with a new and improved 5 mp in 2006, and 6 in 2007.

a 9MP FZ would be interesting, but i'd rather have 5MP and ISO800 without noise...

I agree with Squirrel.... a 5-6MP with ISO800 without the noise would be a better cam.

The big Canon's use a CMOS I believe and have excellent noise versus ISO. I haven't really studied what makes the CMOS imagers better for noise other than their large form factor.

That chip in the article is a MOS type.... wouldn't it have inherently less noise than the typical CCD most digicams use?

Ditto.Panasonic's model numbering may not be able to handle a 5mp versionso they may introduce it with the fz6. Mid-2006? I quess we should all forget about the fz4/5. One other thing: Any chance of getting back infrared capability on these new cameras. Like somehow reducing the strength of the internal ir blocker in a particular mode or scene setting?
