hi
i'm about to order a FZ3... but i am on this desicion:
buy a secondary battery, or buy a dps-9000?
On ritz camera they have it for 40 dollars, almost the same as another spare battery (i don't want to buy on ebay), but the dps is known to have more capacity. Is no problem to me to have an external pack with the camera.
Will it damage the camera for long term use? i don't want to break the cam.

For the same price you can get a couple of Eagle Imports spares and just drop them in your pocket. Mine have worked as well as the original battery.

Dave says the battery life is very good to start with, giving 140 minutes with the LCD on. The original plus a couple of spares will take a lot of pictures. http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/FZ3/FZ3A11.HTM

On my FZ10 a little door has to stay open to plug in an external pack. Maybe you are less clumsy than I, but I would eventually bend the door.

I agree with slipe. Lots of inexpensive batteries available on Ebay for less than $20 each, delivered to your door...

Several people on this board bought the Eagle batteries and were happy with them. Some of the Hong Kong batteries caused problems.

I put my Panasonic battery from my FZ10 in my friend's FZ20 charger and it didn't seem to fit. Some people here on the board said it just needed to be forced and the same battery fits the entire FZ family.

This is the battery I bought: http://store.yahoo.com/eagleimports/dmw-bm7.html Evidently Eagle Imports sells through Yahoo and E-Bay auctions as well as selling direct. It wasn't worth my trouble to go through the search and bidding to save a few bucks.

This is an auction that says the battery linked above works for the entire series: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...45516&rd=1
I don't know anything about this battery. The Eagle battery works well.

You might start another thread about compatible batteries.
