okay, so how the heck to you get a pic down to 15 friggin' KB file size to use as an avatar? any shot i pick, even if i resize it down to well below the 200x200 pixel limit, seems to still be 25-30KB minimum!! if i shrink it down enough to fit the 15KB limit, it'll be too damn small to see!!

I use photo shop...click on
file
save to web
there i klick on 4 up..i have ps 5.5
clik image size type in the 200 x200 pixel limit
chose the frame thats below the maximum bites and save to file...
find that in the avator section of your account the rest should be a piece of cake

Save for web in PS. In other programs resize to 200x200 or less and vary the jpeg compression until you reach 15k or less. Save in a place you can find.

Also make sure you are not saving EXIF data. Otherwise its just a questiion of increasing compression, as the others have said. In PSP saving EXIF data adds about 60KB.

thanks all. unfortunately, i don't have PS or PSP software. i guess i'll have to muddle through without it, or just do without an avatar...

squirl......send it to me i will do it (size)it for ya no biggie at all......:G

or.....

Irfanview....will work too...I just tryed it..its free

open pic in Irfanview

resize to 200 x 200

when you go to save it look bottom right of the save box

hit opions - then move slider back to say 50 %

then save - the 1 I did came out to be 5 kb in size

so you can play around with it.........

ps..need any help just say so..........
