Hello there guys, I have been in search for a sunpak 383 flash and thus far have had no luck. Any ideas on who has it in store...the usual suspects don't have it in...B&H, adorama, focus, etc.

Also is there another flash that works just as well as the 383 w/ the FZ20 ?

thanks for all your responses

Sunpak 422/433 is the same as the 383. Try Ebay.

So is the Quantaray Q383. They are sold at Ritz/Wolf Cameras both retail and online. Currently $100.00. I have one, and it is great.

Yeah, but the Ritz version is $30-35 more than the Sunpak version. That's quite a difference in price.

Igot a cherry 433 off ebay for $35. Works great. Added a Omni-bounce for diffusion and can now deal with a lot of different situations.

Hey guys, thanks for all the input. If the 422/433 are almost the same as the 383...why is everyone stuck on paying twice or even thrice as much for a 383? Do the 422/433 have drawbacks? Of the two which is better? I believe these two models are much easier to find than the 383

The Quantaray might be an option if there is anything missing in the performance of the 422/433. Its price is a drawback but if it works better than the rest it might be worth it.

please post your suggestions

Ditto. I just bought a 422d on ebay for $37 total. Works great with the FZ20.

Can anyone recommend a good diffuser to work with these flashes? I've tempted to try "The Shell" but I'd like to get some actual user feedback before buying it or any diffuser for that matter.

I also considered the Omni-Bounce as well as the Lumiquest products but I've read a lot of mixed reviews on both of them. I'm strongly considering a product I've read about and seen pictures taken with - the Lightsphere II by Gary Wong- however I am waiting for some word back from them on whether it will fit the Sunpak 422 I have.
