Oh, one more thing: What do you know about polarizer filters? Should I leave it on at all times (it supposedly enhances the image even without glass and water around)? It seems like it would darken the picture, thus requiring longer exposure or a larger aperture. That, on the other hand, would also not be too bad since it could then serve like an ND filter. Also, do I need a circular polarizer or willa linear one do? Any input on that?

The general wisdom seems to be that linear is best for digital (plus they're noticeably cheaper.)

You won't want to leave it on all the time -- they do reduce the available light somewhat (but then so do ND filters -- the one you should leave on most of the time is a skylight filter.)

Their main use (for me, at least) is to enhance sky colours, cloud contrast etc.

Most people use a UV filter and leave it on all the time. It has the least effect on the image besides a clear.
