This is my first post on this forum.

I went to a nearby park at lunch today to see if I could find anything interesting to take pictures of with my FZ-20. The results are below.

You can check out my gallery at:

Welcome, Turkalope. Very nice shots. The light in your part of Washington looks outstanding. I like the first one in particular but they are allcrystal clearwith excellent color and detail; items we have come to expect with the Panasonic/Leica marriage but these shots bringthem out in spades. Are these straight from the camera, resized only?

These are great shots. Partial to the first two. The last two are fine, 'cept I DON'T LIKE DUCKS! Welcome to the forum.

welcome aboard, Turkalope... what part of WA are you in? you seem to have caught some very nice images there... love the seagull, nice and sharp! same with the duck... although it seems ducks are a bit over-represented on this board! :G

I post process all my images in almost the exact same way. I shoot with all the camera processing settings on "low"because I think Photoshop does a better job. I do the following in post process:

1. Adjust levels and contrast.

2. Lighten shadows if needed (I tend to shoot slightly under exposed so I don't burn out the highlights)

3. Add about 10% color saturation if needed.

4. Crop if needed.

5.Remove noisewith Neat Image plug-in in photoshop

6. Reduce in size for web.

7. Sharpen.

I live near Everett.

I agree that ducks are a common bird in posts, but I have done a lot of wild life photos and hardly ever taken any duck shots. Honestly, until I got the FZ I didn't take many bird pictures at all. Now that I have that awesome zoom I am just starting into bird shots. So please forgive my duck.

ducks are no problem. i've shot more than a few myself - since i got my FZ, that is! i live on the east side, so get to try my hand at some of the parks around Lake Washington... i agree, the optics are incredible, allow me to get shots i could never get with my film SLR... anyway, nice photos, and welcome to the forum!
