In the old days they used to fast all during Lent except for the fourth Sunday when the fast could be broken fora day. No flowers were allowed on the altar during Lent except for that fourth Sunday - Rose Sunday. These roses are from an altar stillpracticing that old time religion. (The same explanation applies to the pink candle lit the third week in Advent. Advent also required everyday fasting which could be broken that third Sunday.)

Great pics.

Also the color one: I don't know if my FZ20 would render that the same or with some more purple...

Compliments

Thank you! I was amazed at how well the color turned out. El cheapo double 4' econo-soft white florescent kitchen ceiling light that my wife snarls at. Set the wb manually to this white lable I have stuck to the inside of the lens cap of my 2mp el cheapowonder. Grab a rose and shoot.

I only own "cheap" cameras. They're more fun, and since around the mid-60's, take pics just as well as the Leicas and the Hasselblads (the best kept secret in photography...). My film SLR is a 100% manual Vivitar 3000S with a stock 55mm prime lens, stinkin' K-mart special. You should see some of the pic I got out of that thing.

Cameras are like wines. You can spend a small fortune and get a good one (that might be overkill), or you can do a little homework and spend $10 and get one just as good ('specially if the wines are from Australia - right Boyzo?)
