Frankly speaking, most ring flashes are not very usable on a FZ-10. These ring flashes are designed for film SLR cameras using micro/macro lenses. As a result, the working distance, the distance between the subject and the front end of the lens, is usually 20cm or longer. Weaker ones can also be used around 10cm. This will be a problem with the FZ-10 since its minimum working distance is about 3-5cm. Such a short distance is shorter than the distance for the flash to use its minimum output power. If you shoot indoor, you might consider other continuous ring lights rather than ring flashes. Outdoor, a better alternative may be a close-up lens (to move the camera away from the subject and use longer focal length) and one or two cheap low power flashes with diffusers. ---Ching-Kuang Shene

Vivitar Macroflash 5000 55mm mount

Nikon's ring flash SB-29 has an opening of 62mm. $350.00 Ouch!

You are right, I'm using close-up lenses for macro (nikon 6t) shooting at 20/25 cm and the incamera flash.

results, as you know, are not so bad but I'm looking for something better.

I had consider the Digi slave ultra led ring II because it has continuous light also, but it has 52mm mount.

How do you set up your camera to use the vivitar flash. Is it fast to use or it requires long preparaton prior to shoot?

Thank's :|
