Hi Fred can you tell us what were the camera settings on your spectacular shots? What did you do on post-processing? So far the IR shots that I had taken with my FZ1v2 and the R72 look all red to me. May be I'm doing something wrong. Thanks for the cool post!:|

Not to jump in, but you MUST manually set the white balance with the ir filter on, and use the manual setting. If you use Photoshop, try autoadjust levels or bradsiraction: http://www.outdooreyes.com/photo95.php3

Take'er away Fred...

Wow that was a fast reply Nick! Thanks as always, I will try that immediately (do my laundry, hehe). I'll post if I get something decent.

Very nice fmoore. I looked at your exif and see you use Helicon Noise Filter.

What setting did you use? Do you reduce the noise before or after PS?

The dcr6600 looks like a neat addition for IR fun.

I liked all of your shots.

I seldom use noise reduction preferring to stick to iso100 which is good enough for me on most shots. But in order to get handheld shutter speeds in the 1/20s range with the dark ir filter on even in bright sunlight you need to go to iso200 and that gets rather grainy. Generally I clean it up first in Neat Image and then to the channel mix and levels and sharpen after. With these I didnt bother with the nr and went right to channel mix, etc just to see how they looked. Since I had just recently downloaded the new Helicon program I thought I try it out on the mixed images. Settings were default. To be honest with you, I dont know what they were.

I then ran the original images through my normal Neat Image first and then mix proceedure and I thought the Helicons looked better. So that's what I posted. I'm not much of a PPer to say the least. I can make one of the originals available if you want to fool around with it.

God I love those IR shots. I wish the FZ20 could do that.

Outstanding shots...

No problem, noons. I would say your efforts were not very beneficial, however. The treel limbs are all messed up. Way too much nr.
