I had the pleasure of meeting NickTrop today. He's a gentleman and a scholar and a very nice guy as well. But we already knew that. I took his raynox dcr6600pro off his hands, put it on my fz1 with the hoya r72 ir filter and went to see what was hanging out inmy back yard. Here's what I found.

Amazing how a blase photo can come to life with an ir filter. I mean - laundry??- but man, it works! Nicely done. WC.

WOW! Fred! Fantastic! Glad to see the DCR6600 found a proper home! Really neat with a WA. You get the ir plus that cool perspective. NICE!

It was a pleasure meeting you! $XX.XX down, $XXXX.XX to go in the DSLR fund. Let's see... what else do I have to hoc... Anyone need a Cusinart circa 1985? How 'bout an old vinyl of Frampton Comes Alive? Left over chinese food take out? All cheap, cheap, cheap.

Welcome to the forum, WC, and thanks. IR takes the ordinary and kicksarse. Unfortunately, too few digicams today are senstive enoughto ir light to be of much use for ir photography. The internal ir blockers are just too strong. The discontinued fz1/2 is the only one of the fz series to really get the job done.

John - You got it. It gets you. And like all gooddrugs, it's cheap and plentiful.

Sorry! Nick could be a movie star. He does give some good looks.

The dcr6600 works great with the fz1. A little vignetting in these shots but that's with a 55-52 step ring and the r72 filter moving it away from the camera lens a total of about 6mm. Without the r72, no vignetting at all. And, amazingly,no barrel distortion! That tree on the right edge of one of the shots is straight. How do they do that?

PS: Does the Cusinart come with the take out thrown in (up)?

Hi Fred can you tell us what were the camera settings on your spectacular shots? What did you do on post-processing? So far the IR shots that I had taken with my FZ1v2 and the R72 look all red to me. May be I'm doing something wrong. Thanks for the cool post!:|
