Sit back... Do a hit of 4 way blotter... Put on some Pink Floyd (Dark Side Of The Moon)... And watch these pics all night.

Wait...

I don't do that stuff anymore.

Ok... I'll leave out the hit of 4 way...:?

Nice shots Nick...

Great moon shot Nick.
care to share any settings that you use on moon shots. Mine seem to be over exposed.
Thanks,
Bowtie

Oh... these are intentionally overexposed... WAY overexposed... like an 8 second or 4 second shutter speed. I shoot freaky.

The last one, which I took "straight", was (on a tripod...) let's see:

ExposureTime - 1/15 seconds
FNumber - 8.00
ExposureProgram - Aperture priority
ISOSpeedRatings - 50
ShutterSpeedValue - 1/15 seconds
ApertureValue - F 8.00
ExposureBiasValue - -2.00
MeteringMode - Spot
LightSource - Auto
WhiteBalance - Manual
FocalLengthIn35mmFilm - 420 mm
SceneCaptureType - Standard
Contrast - Soft
Saturation - Low
Sharpness - Soft

No an expert on moon shots... first time I tried BUT you definately should use a tripod, and underexpose it by a couple stops to capture the detail, and bring it back using "auto adjust levels" in Photoshop or comparable function in your photo editor.

A full moon is pretty bright, especially when the lens is pointed straight at it. Best, it seems, to underexpose a couple stops - use a lower ISO (I used 50 here, believe it or not) to keep the noise down and preserve detail without blowing it out.

But truthfully? I took about 5 or 6 shots and kept lowering the iso setting, and raising the aperture to keep the light out. Note this was taken at f8 at a 50 iso at night with a -2 compensation, and a surprisingly "fast" ss speed given the setting.

Thanks Nick for all that info!
As soon as the skies clear back up I'm going to try some of your settings.
If I have any luck I'll post the results.
Thanks,
Bowtie
