saw this little bird working on its nest in an alder tree in my back yard this afternoon. not sure what kind it is, but it seemed happy enough to pose for me. photo taken handheld at 12x, f2.8 @1/80. it's a cloudy day, but still relatively bright, so the colors came out pretty good, all it needed was resizing and a bit of sharpening...

here's a slightly closer look... i moved a few feet closer to the nest... not too much, though, didn't want to scare the bird off...

Don't know what kinds of bird it is, but very very nice shot. Is that its nest hanging down. Looks like a big family is expected.

a bushtit it is... good call, Jake! i'll be watching this nest... it's 30 feet from my back door... and will try to capture the family's progress throughout spring and summer. with any luck, i may even catch mom an' dad teaching junior how to fly!
