I've used Tiff once in awhile but haven't really noticed a lot of quality difference with it.. It is still compressed (according to Exif) 1:2 whereas JPG is 1:4.. I would have much rather had an uncompressed RAW than a Tiff that just seems to take menu space.. In all fairness however, I've yet to print anything larger than 4x6 so it may be I just haven't used it to it's capability.. But, for most of what I do, fine JPG is just fine and takes much less card space than Tiff..

I have printed all 3 FZ20 pic settings (TIFF, JPEG Fine, JPEG Normal) at 8x10 and the JPEG Normal is the only 1 I can see any difference in quality (more artefacts, noise etc).

So the moral of the story is use JPEG Fine and snap away. I NEVER crop in-camera as PC Software is MUCH better and accurate than the on-board software.
