I just recieved mine and its not working right. The TIFF image has a green tint and is cut in half. When I put my 512 card in it works fine. The JPEG image is fine just the TIFF is bad. Both cards are Sandisk Ultra 2's.

Anyone else using 2 GB cards?

Looks like a timing error resulting in only part of the file being written -- remember a .tif file takes quite a while to write, even on a fast card.

The camera might run out of time handling the combination of big card space and long write -- even though there are no moving parts as there are in a hard drive, the seek time will probably be longer on the 2GB.

I suppose you've tried formatting the card in the camera?

I don't know that you gain much using .tif anyway, I tried it for a while, then went back to .jpg, which even in fine mode will give you as many or more images on a 512MB than you'll get using .tif on the 2GB.

I tried reformatting it no help.

The manual was probally written before they made2 GB cards. It doesn't say they don't support any bigger one.

I have a email in to panasonic right now but no reply yet.

I don't know if it'll help you and it may even be what led you to buy one..

Ah thanks. Thats exactally what I needed to know. I guesse I'll have to send the card back and get a new one. Must be a bad card.

Sandisk tried to tell me FZ20 only supports 512MB.

I know this is of no help, but TIFF is useless on FZ20, a pure waste of space and time...
Impossible to discern the quality, even at 10 times magnification, between it and Fine Jpg.

So it would not be a problem for me, but I understand your point

Well sent in for a new card and got it back finally. Same problem as before. TIFF in junk. JPG is fine.

Anyone else using 2GB card that can try this?

Tried 2 GB card in FZ20, and get the same results. No problem with JPGs (even those stored in a second half of card, i.e over 1GB), but TIFFs are stored incorrectly (regardless of whether at beginning of card, or over 1GB)

http://panasonic.co.jp/pavc/global/l...ard/index.html

However, these damaged TIFFs can be fixed by cutting 16384 bytes from inside of them, exactly from offset 4000h (to 7FFFh inclusive).

Interesting fact is that on this site http://panasonic.co.jp/pavc/global/l...cessories.html Panasonic lists 2 GB card as one of the optional accesory for FZ20.
