f4 with 1/400 does work with 400ISO. When you get to f2.8 and 1/125 or so it gets pretty noisy though.

I guess I should mention that I used the Raynox Pro 1.54X teleconverter for these shots, too.

Roughly, what distance are you shooting from?

I also have the Raynox 1540 Pro butI tend to have this habit of trying to bring them in from too far out--lol

Any where fromfive to thirty feet. The cardinal was about twenty five feet away above, the Chickadee about ten, the Sparrows about eight. I almost always crop my bird pics.
