Here, it has opened fully. You can see has turned from mostly red to mostly white. Truly a "Double Delight". :-)

I've been having some trouble with underexposure. I thought it may be due to using the spot mode and having it focus on just the white center. But I took the spot mode off and it's still not perfect I guess. Any suggestions?

The camera picked f5.6, 1/800 in auto which is way fast. Maybe shoot A mode f2.8 and see what happens. Try bracketing and see how exposure looks. Experiment as it's stationary object.

If you meter on something white the camera will almost always underexpose because it "thinks" the scene is brighter than it actually is. Try compensating with a positive EV and use your histogram to preview, or as Redhouse suggested, bracket. These articles may help.

Thank you both for your suggestions. I will try them. One thing I can't dois use A mode since my FZ1 is not upgraded to v2. I need to refresh my memory on how to bracket. I remember doing it way back when I first got the camera, but have now forgotten. Guess I'll have to break out manual!

You should upgrade your firmware. It's free, easy and fast. This guide has everything you need to do it. It will open a lot functions for the FZ1 and make it more fun to use:-)
