I am more and more impressed with this camera (FZ-20)every day. Tonight I attended a musical at my daughter's school and since they forbid flash photography I was forced to up the ISO to 400 and still got some really nice shots that printed out fantastic at 4x6. I'm only posting this because this question of excess noise at high ISOs comes up a lot but IMO it is much overblown. I also used a table top tripod, the Ultra Pod II, which I believe made a world of difference. Here are a couple of examples at ISO 400 with no post processing except for a bit of cropping and resizing.

Skin tones look good. 400 is never a problem under a spotlight. Some of my best photos ever have been exactly that way. I would not use flash even where it is allowed. Takes the glamour and mood out of the the stage show. Bob

That's the same point I was trying tomake justbecause I've heard it said on this forum several times that ISO 400 is "unusable" when clearly that is not the case.
