Fred, these have an "SLR-like" quality. Love how the background is blurred. Were you standing in the distance, and zoomed in? Excellent captures.

Hey Nick,

The first one was at about 6x zoom and the background was about 40ft away. Choosethe background wisely. It has alot to do with the final result. The third one was at 12x in macro from about 3ft away. The fz5 macro works a little diferent from the fz1. You can get some nice shots from 3ft at 12x. I haven't looked at it lately, but I dont think you can get that close at 12x with the fz1.

I'm having a good time with this baby. The weather has benn beautiful and Spring is busting out all over. I had originally planned on getting the FZ5 from amazon - had it preordered for $500 for delivery 4/22, tomorrow. A few started popping up at various web sites April 8 and over that weekend. That Monday, April 11, I finally stopped fretting and ordered onearound 10:30 am from digitalfotoclub in NYC for $429 shipped.(Cancelled the amazon.) It got here about 6:30 the following evening. Unbelievable! Spent the other $70 on a1g 60x kingmax sd card that came the following day. It holds 800 shots at high compression! I had to modify (ie, hacksaw) the rinkydink plastic fz5 adapter and slide a raynox rt5264p over it to getclose camera lens to converter lens spacing. Works great and with metal threads! I had it out the other day shooting some big old trees in the park with the dcr6600pro attached. I never would have gotten the shots without itdue to the foliage limiting good positioning. I love that lens. I'll post some soon.

The FZ5 ROCKS!!
