April 25th is a special day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand to those who fell in the Great Wars,
the poppy is a symbol worn on this occasion, and the date relates to horrific battles at Gallipoli, Turkey in 1915, although this day of remembrance now applies to all who die in conflict.
Fresh poppies are scarce in our gardens in Autumn,
I invite you to post

lest we forget

I do have poppies in my own garden but they are not quite in bloom yet. Instead, I will use yours as a symbol of remembrance and pay homage to all those families everywhere who have been touched by war.

Good one Gazza. I think far to many people take for granted the sacrifice's made by our forefathers and mothers in battle. Seems that some people think of it as a day off work rather than what it's really about.

There are no winners when it comes to war.

Lest we forget.

nice shot Boyzo,
some times it is good to focus on something other than
what is expected.
