More pictures of the Samsung - found it on dpreview.

I completely agree with Nick on this - if Panasonic can get a digicam with nearly everything he has listed- a fast f2.0-f2.8 Leica lens; 8X Optical zoom; OIS; a 6MP 2/3 CCD with a good ISO 800 and noise free ISO400 then you have a DSLR killer. Even if the price is close to or more than the low end DSLR it would still be a winner - the quality of the lens alone would be worth it.

Here's another link at the Leica forum - a Canon 20D 8MP or a 5MP LC1/Digilux 2, obviously the 20D at larger print sizes is the winner but if your ead the thread the 5MP D2/LC1 can hold its own.

http://www.leica-camera.com/discus_e...tml?1114458506

The LC1/Digilux2 costs $700-1500
The Canon 20D + L USM lens (Equivalent in quality to the Leica Summnicron on the LC1/D2) = $2000 - 2500

Hopefully the FZ30 will have manual zoom/focus and a larger CCD. Even if that means a larger body, I think it is worth it. IS, 6MP, 12x zoom (or thereabouts), usable iso to at least 400, manual zoom/focus, quick start up time, flip LCD. That would be my perfect camera, and it looks like this Samsung is almost there...

Can't wait to see what other companys will come out with

Just checked the link - I don't like the ergonomics or the screen on this cam. The lens extends way out .,... makes me "my thats a long lens you have"

Any word on a price for this baby? I have not read anything about IS as a 'feature' on the camera...

It will have to be good to make me give up my FZ-20...
