I had to give a little more time to catch the clouds, but that resulted in the moon getting overexposed. Any suggestions?

Actually I like this photo. Of course it's not a photo where you can see all details, but I think it's boring to see the another moon shot, bcause they all look exactly the same to me.
Probably the best thing about this photo are the clouds, which you normally wouldn't see , and it gives nice atmosphere to this photo.

Nice job!

I agree w/ the previous comment. I think this shot is more of a atmospheric shot, forget about trying to get the details in the moon and try for a eerie look w/ the moon shadowed by the clouds. Maybe even a shot or two w/ the moon completely covered by clouds and trying to break through, something goulish about dark clouds covering the moon...lol

I know it's not the answer you want, but I do agree with the last two comments. It has an "Amospheric" sort of feel to it - rather nice.

Yep....I agree I like the image as it is, detailed moon shots are great for showing off what your camera can do but generally can become boring:G

I gave a mini tutorial on moon shots at the bottom of the following thread, perhaps you may find that of some use:

Thanks, Smarty. I will look into that. I am attaching two more images taken just now. Unfortunately, clouds were not that thick today.
