I got out of the care the other night and saw the full moon just coming up from my neighbors house. This was taken handheld at 12x zoom. Seems like something is missing, out of focus maybe?

After I got out the tripod the moon was up more so it was catching much more light. This one was a 12x + 4x digital.

Hey there! I cant really comment on these shots as i cant access the EXIF data, but here's a link suze pointed me to which helped out with my moon shots. Hopefully it'll be helpful for you too!
Also I'd stay away from digital zoom if possible, you'll get a sharper image if you stick with optical zoom and use software such as photoshop (if you have any decent imaging software i think it'll do a better job than the digital zoom) to crop/resize your final image.

Edit: Humm... since i promised a link i suppose i'd better actually give it to you

Exif indicates the first had 2.2 digital, F8, ISO 100and 1/125 with Manual setting and spot metering. Maybe out of focus?
