A old age home near my place had organised a Guinness record attempt for Rangoli (designs on the floor with color powders) and Kolam (drawing on floor with white powder, around a matrix of dots). The Rangoli, a saree design, measured about 250 ft in length and consumed about 1,200 kg of color powder. The Kolam measured about 300 ft in length and consumed about 300 kg of whitepowder. 100 people accomplished the task in about six hours. A few photos:

The fact that this gigantic effort was accomplished in just six hours is a fantastic feat and even more fantastic is that 100 people did it in perfect harmony without tripping all over each other

I used to love listening to the suprabhatam on the morning radio and seeing the lady of the house draw the rangoli in front of their houses in the morning mist...fond memories of childhood. Thanks for bringing back those memories raghu
