I'm considering getting the DCR-250 lens down the road maybe, but I'm wondering if it's even worth it since the FZ3 only has autofocus. Does the autofocus still work at this range?

The dcr250 works great with the entire fz series autofocus.

Which brings me to my next question...

There are 3 focusing options on here: 1 point, 3 point, 9 point.

If I'm trying to focus on something very small (let's say I want to focus on a bug's head, for example), should I use the 1 point so that it's not trying to focus everything else at the same time?

Yes, you should.

I'm always using 1 point for any kind of picture.
