Here are two photos taken from the same location - give or take a few steps...-

I took these while visiting Japan this April.
I am working on getting the gallery together to put a lot of my pictures there.
But as people have been taling about the 12 x zoom I thought to pput up this photo zoomed to the top of Mt Fuji. I was most surprised at the clarity. You can almost spot the weather station atop of the mountain which you can not spot with plain eye at all... Forst just a 1 x shot...

The right-hand icon in the post window gives you a spell checker - lousy for grammar but ...

As far as Mt. Fuji goes - GREAT The weather station is quite clear.

don't you absolutely love the 12X. There are times when i wish i had more...hence my search for a good telephoto lens.

Great shot, hope to take them myself someday...from the foothills of Mt. fuji

yeah Seth...I do love that zoom!
pity about the digital zoom as it is just too grainy or something. I am also thinking of getting some lense but the good ones are just a bit too expensive for me...

See you at the foot of Mt Fuji sometime...I love Japan and have visitited now 8 times!
I would also love to visit India where I have never been...the colours in India are amazing and make wonderful photos...all those oranges and reds!

J. - the digital zoom is worth using in a situation like this, take your 1X, 12X, and then a "48X" and do them all from a tripod or beanbag type steady rest.

The TCON17 is an affordable FL booster, check CK Shene's webpage and other comparisons. I have a couple of samples on my tswill2.smugmug.com page, and also some recent shots with the digital zoom. I compared digital to resampled to the same crop and the digital won!

I was there north of Fuji in 1953 courtsy of Uncle S., and it was beautiful. Your's are great shots. (except for the shed)

Tom

Thanks for the info Tom!
BTW "the shed" is a Temple wall which goes all around it as they do in many Taemple grounds in Japan....
see the photo attached...
