i'm gonna get one of those frames that holdsthree 5x7 pics, and put some of these in it... i think they'd look really sharp with the white mat, black background, and colorful flowers!i think that red begonia i posted earlier will be one of 'em, and probably the yellow daisy, but i'm not sure which of the other ones to put in... :?

"or". i did these the same way i did the red-orange begonias.... playing with the shadow-fill and highlights till most of the background disappeared, then cloning out the few spots that were left. takes a while, but when you're done, the images definitely jump out at you!

Squirl, hope you don't mind but you inspired me to try one. The colors on this flower were so vivid I had to try it. I could not get Picasa to work well so I just cloned the background. Took some time but worked OK. Thanks.

don't mind at all! ifsomeone likes mywork enough to inspirethem to try it, that's the highest complement of all! thank you... it is a painstaking process, repeating shadow level and highlight adjustments, then cloning out the remaining bits that refuse to disappear, but the end result is well worth it in my book. not something i'd do often, but for certain pics that lend themselves to it, i think the result os very dramatic.

i like your shot too... perhaps just a smidgen over-saturated, but that's red for ya! keep at it, though... these make very eye-catching pics to hang on your wall, and i guarantee you people will ask, "how did you do that?"

i hope YOU don't mind, but i pulled your pic into Picasa and played with it a bit.. got the background to go away with a little fiddling... here it is. i had to undo several levels of tuning, and redo a little with shadow and saturation, but i think it came out okay...
