A view of a lenticular cloud formation that occurs
regularly up the hill from where I live.
It is nicknamed the "Pet".

Gazza,

The first one is beautiful...really very good composition. I love the colours too...Very aesthatic indeed...

However, One question....2nd one is good in composition too...but the colors look too flat...especially the color of sky....aint it?

Why the difference?

AP..

yes, a bit hard to capture the sky dynamically when the majority of the shot contains dark land forms,
I should have bracketed the shot and merged,
maybe next time.

And yet another fine shot from Gazza! The first one is superb, the second one is a good picture, yet somehow lacking to me. (Sorry Gazza, thats not meant nastily)

But both better than I can do:-)

Your gallery is wonderful! New Zealand is truly like something out of a fairytale!!!
My favourite is the autumn 2005 shot...very beautiful!

Out of these the first stands out as truly suberb...but what is speargrass? Sounds ominous.....

WOW! Gazza, these are both simply stunning! If you don't get a stipend / commissions from the NZ tourist bureau, you should!

OK guys,I agree, the second one sux, it should have been a silhouette,
thanks for the comments and critique, I do appreciate them.

Aciphylla squarrosa, Speargrass, Common Spaniard,
A large speargrass with stiff rigid leaves up to 1m long with very sharp tips & a spiny flower-stalk up to 2m tall.
Nice to look at, just don't sit on one.
Sorry, this pic taken with Canon Powershot
