caught this 'classic' image of a Great Blue at the lake a couple of days ago... not the best lighting, but it came out acceptably, i thought. there seem to be more herons about this year than in the past. or, perhaps, with my revived interest in photography, i'm just more aware of them... the bird was about 20 yards away, and this image was cropped a bit - i shot it in horizontal format, then cut off the ends...

i think this one's a she.. and she's probably miffed that the male who was dancing with her (see my previous post, "heron mating dance") decided to leave the prom without her! :?
